9 year old child charged in shooting..

ya know ,thats a good point. lets look at this. HE'S 9! therefore this would apply. he is not old enough to know. and guessing from his history I doubt anyone ever gave him lessons on firearms.

9 years old means you are in 3rd or 4th grade. Very old enough to know.

This literally made me sick to my stomach when I read this. At first I was siding for the poor boy with the less than ideal home life, but then when I read about the gun going off and shooting an innocent 9 year old girl, in the stomach, critically injuring her......wow...

I had to put myself in the shoes of her ( the victim's ) parents. I have a son who just turned ten. I tried to imagine getting the phone call that he had been shot in his stomach, in his own classroom. I would be FURIOUS!! (After being absolutely terrified about whether he would be okay or not, of course)

But I would have next to no sympathy for this family who spawned this child who knew no better than to bring a loaded weapon to school. (Thank God she wasn't bending down a foot or two and had the bullet go through her brain! I shudder to even think about it..).

If I were her parents I would prosecute his mother to the full extent of the law. He got the gun from her home, she should have had it secured and kept it out of his reach.

I hope his parents pay the price for this, and I wish that innocent little girl and her family a rapid recovery.

Accidental discharge that hits someone is still assault if she died he would be tried with manslaughter.

still think he's to young and that the charges belong to the mother. she should have been more responsible with her weapons and should be held acountable for it.

I believe the article said something about their state not having laws that charge parents if the child has a gun.

Obviously an accident and if the prosecutors have any common sense they will reduce the charge to a lesser one which most likely will happen.

The NRA used to have a program that was free to the schools that taught gun safety at a very young age called the Eddy Eagle program... the liberal do gooders ran them out of the school. Might have prevented this.
