I just had a new coop delivered. It’s beautiful but it’s super hot in there!

It has great ventilation but adding more. Have a fan blowing cross breeze.

Looking for a way to add shade.

Any ideas? Also, if you know where to buy something, you please let me know

Thanks!!

For something quick you can always go on Craigslist and ask for free trampoline parts/frames. Hopefully they have the net type. Put the poles for the net added onto the legs. Go to harbor freight and get a mesh tarp.

I work with welders and I pulled it out. They laughed. A lot. But they weren't laughing after theirs kept blowing away due to it catching that wind like a sale.

Anyway you do that temp while you build a good quality run.

Posting pics of the coop, inside and out, and where it is should help garner helpful advise.

Meanwhile, here's some tips that work for me:

In the mean time, you can feed frozen watermelon 🍉.

You can also set out frozen water jugs. Milk jugs, 2&3 liter bottles of soda, filled with water and frozen. Lay them out for them to lay up against.

Set in a pan inside a 3 in pvc pipe. Just like you would a gravity water feeder. The condensation and the melting water inside will cool them down.

Or place the bottle in there regular water feeder. Upside down cap off. Keep off the bottom tho.

Great idea!! I was gonna just cut the top outta mine and drop the ice block in their water bucket. This will save my container!! Thanks for the great tip!!
