90% success sexing on pullets true?

This year I got 20 chicks from ideal. 2 turned out to be roos so that is exactly 90% for me.

In April I got.....oh, 31 pullets from the feedstore - ordered sexed pullets from Ideal. A few did die before I could sex them (one culled, one mystery death the next day, a few overheated when it first hit 90+) but I haven't found any surprise cockerels.
I've had good success with the sexing, not so much with the environmental incidents with this group.

I got eight chicks from MPC, which I believe came from meyer. 6/8 are almost definite hens at 9 weeks and two I THINK are hens but it could go either way. I had hoped to guess for sure before now, as I have another order from them coming next week, but the chickens are not cooperating. In either case, at this point in time all eight look like they could be hens. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Just curious, did you call/email MPC about your roo problems? are they sending a replacement or giving you credit?

My first order from MPC was correct - 5 hens, including a bantam brahma and a silkie. My new order is only a week old, so I will have to wait and see.

I ordered 50 pullets from Murray McMurray in March and all are pullets. Of course one rare breed was a Cuckoo Marans rooster who I have listed on Craig's list, but the other was a Naked Neck pullet. Am glad it worked out so well!

I am waiting for my Golden Laced Polish to crow (the SS and the EE crow daily now), so I can tell MPC I'm not just looking at the feather patterns. I plan to call and ask for a refund for the 3 roos. I wonder if they will make me wait till they a "don't lay eggs"?

Starting to sound like I am the exception to the 50% roo ratio.

I love my Speckled Sussex roo so much it makes me cry to loose him. "She" was my favorite chick. At least he is going to a home with 12 gals and no other roo...
