911 hatching issue

How's it going?

Has the chick piped?

Often they can successfully hatch on their own even at the small end, but I'd monitor closely.

I'm not a fan of assisted hatching, I have done it when necessary but sometimes things still go wrong. IF you feel like you may have to assist. Read the article below several times before assisting. Patient is key when it comes to hatching.

It can take a while, as long as you don't see the feathers start to dry and fluff out I would not assist.
If they do get stuck and start to fluff just take a warm wet paper towel and re-wet gently around the egg (be very careful during this process not to get water in their beak/nose).
Try not to intervene if possible, and be very aware of how the chick will not be able to handle being wet and cold for very long, if at all.
It is a risk so I would still only recommend this as a last resort. Good luck and I hope your chick ends up okay 🐣

That chick still hasn't hatched. It's still alive and knows where it's air hole is. If it hasn't hatched by tonight before bed, I'm going to help it out so.e.
I think that's a good idea.

Is the membrane starting to dry out? If it is, then apply just a light touch of an ointment like Bacitracin or Triple antibiotic ointment (Original Neosporin) to the membrane to help keep it pliable. Coconut oil can be used if you don't have ointment. These don't evaporate as quickly as water, so you don't have to open the bator as much and less of risk shrink wrapping the chicks.

I missed the egg a few minutes ago. It's making some progress.
