911! Hovabator Turner Potential Malfunction!!!!

I can tell you this...it took my turner 30 minutes or so to move fro the far side to straight up...12 hours, you probably caught in it the same position. Che about every 20 minutes. Good luck. Speckledhen has been holding my hand with these eggs since she told me they were in the mail. But these are her grandbabies and I expect her to be concerned

Well, the prognosis is bad...The motor on the turner is making noise, but it is not turning. I have taken apart all of the yellow pieces to see if something was stuck, but it was not. The motor is very hot, but does not seem to be moving the cog that tilts the eggs. I have taken the turner out and will deal with that issue tomorrow.

In the meantime, I am very concerned that the eggs may nto have been turning for the first 48 hours! As I said, the tuner WAS working all weekend when I ran my test, so it must have stopped sometime after I put the eggs in.

So, the new question is: How much damage might have been done? Worst case scenario, if they haven't been turned at all since they were put in, is everything lost???

This is only the third day right?

They should be fine. Take the turner out, and turn them by hand until either they hatch, or you are able to get the turner fixed.

Thanks...I took the turner out, then marked all of the eggs and put them back in without the turner. Now my temp and humidity are all wacked out, and I'm concerned that the eggs got chilled to about 80 in the 10 minutes or so while I took them out.

So, even with everything that got screwed up...WORST CASE SCENARIO...If they didn't get turned for 48 hours, then got taken out and spun around to be marked, then got cold, and then got put back into a 95 degree incubator with 65 percent humidity....And then I decide to go to sleep without getting the humidity down ..What are the chances that ANY of my 24 eggs will ever hatch???

Don't worry so much, mama hens get up a time or two a day. It takes a good bit for their internal temperature to drop to a dangerous level.
Eggs are tough critters sometimes, as fragile as they seem.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! You will help me to sleep a little better!!!!

I just tried to get customer service info for Hova bator and NO e-mail address. Can you believe it? Not a good sign for customer service! Will have to call in the morning. We'll see what happens.

( I should clarify - Hova-Bator DOES have a website, but you can only PURCHASE things there, but you are apparently NOT able to access a customer service link. Only when I took my reading glasses out could I find the phone number....in 2 point white web type face!

UPDATE: Thanks again to all of you who talked me down from the ledge!!!

Called HovaBator's parent company this morning, and much to my surprise, I got a REAL person on the phone who is sending me a new motor, NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!! (Except for my name, address and where I bought the unit, of course.) Well what a nice surprise to actually have customer service these days!!! Major compliments to a small company that does business the right way!!!!

Anyway, to any of you out there still following this thread, WISH ME LUCK!!! Hopefully my next post will be pics of my new babies!!!
