96 Eggs Set This Morning- Incubation Thread *WE'RE ON DAY 21*

Darn, you're right! It's not over 5 days yet! How stupid am I!

I've killed the whole bunch now, though. CRAP! They are outside in the big trash can. I will say, though, all of the ones that were thrown had NO development. Completely clear, looked porous, I think. I bet it was from all the handling I did on day #1. I regret that.

MANY eggs still appear clear on day 4. I never throw out eggs before day 10. NEVER! Porous can still hatch without any problem.

OOOKK.. I wouldn't throw any out until day 10 but I noticed something REALLY strange in one that I randomly candled today. I didn't check my shipped eggs before setting them so I just wanted to make sure nothing looked really off. ONE egg looked like it had many small bubbles in it around the area of the air cell. they all moved freely around the egg as I turned it. I don't "see" a crack but is is possible to have a very very small crack that is letting air in?? I'm afraid to leave this one in there because I would HATE myself if it ruptured and ruined my others. While I was turning it, it looked like the fluid was more watery than I would expect. I'm thinking BAD EGG!!

Thanks for the advice!

Jess

A shipped egg often has air cell damage. Sounds like what you are seeing. This opinion comes from someone with VERY limited experience. I would not worry about it, I have heard that they can still develope. If it starts to leak or smell, that is a different thing. Even heard of people taping cracked eggs together and having them hatch. It is normal for water to move in and out of the egg shell, depending on the humidity in the incubator. Hopefully it moves out with lower humidity. The eggs air cell has to enlarge (water diminish ) for the chick to have enough air to keep from drowning as it pips. .......I think...........stan

Itsazoo... I have a chicken named Jess. She's one of my favorites! I don't hatch eggs like that, mainly because I'm a worry wart. LOL.

It's funny because I always write or sign "Jess" but my name is Jessica.

You don't hatch eggs with "loose" air cells? Or with funny bubbles in them?
