The ones I hatched ALL looked like Delawares. I had both males and females.

Hmm... I will check with her again.

It's been a long day. I had less than 50% total ?? I may get 20 out of 43. I haven't checked the ones that did not hatch yet, but most piped, and some zipped that did not make it. My humidity was 60% to 65% most of the time during lockdown. I got maybe 3 of the 15 shipped eggs, 2 of the 18 we picked up in Spartenburg (1 Polish), and 8 or so of the 14 Ameracaunas we picked up in Aiken. Kind of dissapointing. They seemed to be getting stuck?? I know 60% is on the low side, but do you think that is low enough to cause this much trouble?? On the plus, I GOT 2 BLUE rocks from Halo's!! They need to be pullets. ........stan

Bummed... Checked my last three non-pipped eggs for signs of life. 2 had none. Did the float test to be sure. Took them outside and one was DEFINITLY bad. Just liquid goo. The other was a beautiful fully formed blue maran.

yolk mostly absorbed. What happened?! The only thing I could figure is that the egg was oddly shaped. It had almost a flat side. Maybe he couldnt turn? He was a big baby in that egg too. Soooo sad for him. Still have three in the batorworking on it including the one I broke earlier

Hope they all make it!!

Did you open the bator? That will cause this problem. I speak from experience with that. I lost a dozen chicks in one batch that way, and I am quite sure it was because I opened the bator a few times.

Humidity is so controversial. Personally, I like mine around 60% at hatch time, and not more than 65%. Some say it really depends where you live and your altitude. This is just what works for me.

Anyway, congratulations on your new chicks!
