9wk old chick won't stand up on legs? What's wrong with her?

Interesting that you mention the feed. I have just switched to a custom blend, but to be honest with you, I got the chicks from the same supplier, and the rest of the bunch are healthy and thriving. They've been on this blend for weeks. Sheesh!.......I was adding some powdered calcium to her feed, and now a multi-vitamin. Also, pedialyte water. She is very spirited, with chirpy purrs, and she still tries to stand on those legs. I'm just not sure what it's going to take to make them stronger. I do appreciate everyone's kind suggestions. Yes, I could use a guide book.

If you are getting a complete feed for your chicks, I would recommend you do NOT give powdered calcium. This may be fine for layers, who like to peck at oyster shell, but too much calcium will cause problems for growers. I think this may be your answer. Stop the powdered calcium. Without the right amount of vitamin D it is useless anyway and the complete grower feed will contain sufficient calcium.

Ooh, another thought I had..... is there any possibility of some kind of plant poisoning? I have wondered about that with my own birds and moved them to a different part of the garden. You always get some who are more adventurous with 'food' than others are, which can explain why some get symptoms and some not. Some of mine have been munching on rose hips and I'm just not sure if they are OK or not. On the other hand, the little cockerels have been leaping up and grabbing at the wisteria whichis supposed to be poisonous, but they are absolutely fine! Check around and see if there is anything she may have eaten which she shouldn't.
