New to chicken in northern Montana! I have a small chicken coop, someone is going to give me 4 chickens in 2 weeks ( late October or early November). This is late I know but I’m not set up to get chicks and keep them warm until they have full feathers. My plan is to put the coop near the door to the greenhouse and allow the run of the greenhouse during the winter. I’m thinking of putting straw down and letting them scratch during the winter, rake it out in the spring all while slowly introducing them to my 2 Great Pyrenees.
ANY THOUGHTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frowGlad you joined.
Your plan sounds reasonable but be prepared to build a new coop as a small coop in cold weather rarely works out well. You need a lot of draft free ventilation for birds to remain healthy over the winter in cold climates and that's hard to do in small coops.

can you keep them inside until they have their full feathering?

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Here's a good article in our Learning Center. There are many more helpful articles there. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/things-i-wish-i-knew-before-i-got-my-first-chick.74957/

This is a loose guide to consider, but it's up to the chicks mostly as to what they can handle so take it with a grain of salt. I stick by it the first two weeks, then see how it goes. Every hatch I hatch is different from the one before.
