All,

This distributor posted sale chicks back in early March. Aside from cancelling my order and being charged 50% cancellation fee, I got a call from my PO yesterday that there were baby chicks for me. This was a surprise since I was told that my order had been given to other's who were waiting in line.

The chicks were NOT day old or even 2 day olds (taking into consideration hatch, ship and arrival)--they have their wing pin feathers which don't start coming in until 5-7 days. It is my understanding that chicks can only be shipped as "day olds" or later on with food.

The chicks are doing well, but I know there are regulations about this.

Any inputs?

Thanks!

I don't know that it takes that long for the feathers to come in. I just got 23 chicks that took 3 days to ship and 3/4 of them have there feathers already coming in.

I can tell you he did not raise these chicks. He orders them and then turns around and re sells them. there for have to be at least 5-4 days old when you get them depending on where you live. I have pictures of him getting the chicks from the post office. He lives in a trailer on about 1 1/2 acres of land and he calls it the largest NYS hatchery. He must have learned a lot of bull while doing time the the Prison for false filing of business records.
