A Baby What!

We considered keeping the baby coon and nursing it to good health and returning it back to nature, possibly even at our property in Ms, but keeping an adult raccoon is something we cannot do for a variety of reasons.

Mainly the issue with rabies and distemper. Distemper seems to be quite common with raccoons and without a permit to keep one, what vet would give it its needed shots?

I just saw on the news of a big family of racoons ,tearing up roofs on houses trying to get in,which reminded me of my friends family when i was a teen in colorado
my friend had a racoon her family had raised as a baby,it got into everything and and at first it was cute and funny but then as it got bigger they had grown tired of it ,i remember when they tried keeping it outside but it had other plans and kept tearing holes trying to get back inside their house.when i first saw it,it was full grown ,i thought it was cute but i was afraid of it,i saw it scratch her fathers face and blood just started running from the scatches and i was like ill just look i dont want to hold .i felt sorry for it because it was out of place. My thoughts are a unwanted wild pet that fears no evil has a short and sad life.

I spoke with my buddy at the pet store. Mr. Maurice the raccoon rehabilitator came back into the store two or three days later with the baby raccoon who's eyes are now open! They appear to be bonding and its a she and she is doing well and feeding.
