A Bielefelder Thread !

You do know you can raise chicks very successfully without a heat lamp, right? Lots of us are using Mama Heating Pad. I even brood my chicks in a pen outside in the run when temps are in the teens and twenties.... https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/yes-you-certainly-can-brood-chicks-outdoors https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/956958/mama-heating-pad-in-the-brooder-picture-heavy-update
Awesome!...im still just trying to get some chicks, seems these birds are not easy to get.

The smallest egg I get from one of my Biel girls is 1.9 ounces, and the largest so far has been 2.63 ounces. Generally they seem to stay right around 2.0-2.15 ounces right now, but my girls haven't been laying for very long.

Thanks. I'm drawn to the breed because of their heritage and beautiful colors.
I also have Jersey Giants.

If you were to buy chicks from a breeder which one would you choose?

I'm a glutton for going to the most recent importer (Greenfire Farms - GFF) or a breeder who got their breeding stock from GFF. Omega Hills Farm has GFF stock. But I'm sure there are others on this thread with good recommendations for you.

My chicks are from Brinkhaven Acres. I looked at Greenfire Farms as well.

Ultimately aren't all Biels from GFF? No one else has legally imported them. Rarebreedauction.com has some nice birds.
