Hello all I am new to the forum and I am getting ready to start my flock. I am looking for suggestions on what breeds would be good for me to start with. I have never had chickens before and need all the help I can get. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

a lot depends on what you want from chickens, egg layers, or meat birds - yard decorations etc. Take a look at the breed forum and see if any impress you

Everyone around our parts gets red sex-links. They are fantastic layers, friendly and pretty hardy.

I am not so much a sex-link fan. If you google the Henderson Chicken Chart you will find a very good breeds resource.
