I too have a very smart bird, she is an African Grey Congo, Some scientist believe that these birds have the intelligence and cognition of a 6 year old child. Which I believe completely!! She is smarter than a lot of people I have encountered in my life. I also had a goffin Cockatoo "Houdini" who would escape from a locked cage and let my African Grey out too!!
I would come home from work and find both of them out of their cages! As for chicken intelligence, and all animals for that matter, I believe every species has some form of intelligence! Did anyone ever ponder that animals may think we are dumb!! Humans are very arrogant and I would rather spend time with animals than most humans! At least they don't judge.
