I am so new to this... I'm very scared for my peeps.
These are Sebastopol babies... one has pipped but not broken through. The other one is breaking through, but has no desire to zip.
It looks like it's in the wrong position.

A lot of blood...
Advice? Information?

It's peeping, breathing, and working on the massive hole in the shell.

Please go down to the goose thread and post, there are alot of knowledgeable people there that can walk you through this.. I know there are great people here too but you'll be talking to goose people there.

I already did... sorry, I just want advice.
Didn't know that other poultry problems weren't allowed here other than chickens.

Oh okay, thank you for clearing that up!

Yes, I think I have it posted twice in two active threads. We'll see.
I'm a panicking new mommy, I give everyone permission to roll their eyes LOL

Listen when it comes to hatching we're all like that. hopefully everything will be fine, hope you get some good feed back from each post, to calm your fears. i know I've read where it can take gooslings 48 hours to hatch, hang around and continue to ask questions thats what the forum is for. thank goodness when my goose hatched I knew nothing about it mama duck took care of it all.

Well, the blood was NOT normal.
The chick ripped itself out of the shell a total of 16 hours after the first pip.

It's navel is swollen, protruding, and bloody.
We are doing what we can for it... we'll see.

I feel like a total loser.

Please don't feel like a loser. Things just happen. I have had my share of crummy outcomes, but I am learning that it all just comes with the territory.

Hang in there and keep me updated on him/her.

The gosling is doing much better this morning.

It wasn't drying well in the incubator due to the humidity, so we moved it to a brooder by itself.
We have been spraying Veterycin on it's bum and putting styptic powder on top of that.

Last night was nerve wrecking. I got no sleep. My other eggs are hatching so they were peeping back and forth all night.
We gave the baby electrolytes and a small amount of smashy food because it was so weak... I didn't think it would live through the night. But this morning...

It's fluffed, holding it's head up, chirping, it's eyes are open, and it's trying to stand on it's own!
Today will be a big test... if it can stand by the end of the day, I think it will make it. It's navel is still protruding, but not as red and swollen as yesterday.
