A bobwhite with spraddle leg

Hello,

Here is the link to the treatment of sprattle legs;

http://www.poultryhelp.com/spraddle.html

by the way,do not use paper towels anymore or newspaper.shame shame.go to Family Dollar,go to the housewares isle, find" grip rite" pry a dollar out of your pocket, and buy it.This stuff works great.I cannot over-emphasise with it.It can be washed and reused, unlike paper towels and newsprint.the chicks will never get sprattle legs with it,nor mistake it for feed.If you dont have a mere dollar, then go to your next door neighbors house and bum a dollar off of them,or take something and sell it.for Gods sake.

Exactly what I was thinkin'!! I don't remember reading where the poster said they were using newspaper or paper towel!!!!!! Oh well ....... some folks just have a way with words......

I think you have me mistaken for some twit on the internet who doesn't know jack.
I actually do use paper towels (the nice expensive brawny for that matter), have for many times over. I think its hilarious you'd send me to a link that even suggests I can use paper towels!
Never have used newspaper and have had my first case of
spraddle leg. I actually have yet to lose a chick to anything......certainly never lost one to eating shavings as you stated you have and I'll quote that comment,

"first thing is to get rid of ANY shavings for the floor.Go to family dollar or dollar general.my wife bought this stuff that is for rv placement mats.this material wont let the chicks get splayed leggs and the chicks never confuse it for food like the shavings. So many trageties start out with dead chicks from the floor shavings,or pine,or straw.the chicks will think that is food and will die.I have lost some quail to this thing so Ido come w/experience. the mats are reuseable and washable, made from a rubber material.the chicks cant even peck pieces off of it nor eat it.We use it in our brooder and its so easily cleanable.

Here is a pic below of our chicks and the mat they use"

When you become perfect you then can look down on me....

For others who might like to give me suggestions I think I said in my first post I was
having a hard time keeping anything on this little guy. The medical tape I used lastnight was
tore off again this morning. Found the smallest bandaid I could find and it was off of him again just a few
minutes ago.....

Any other suggestions? Two days later is it too late?

LMAO! Apparently that's their answer to all chicken-ailments.

I wonder if the really fuzzy pipe cleaners could be fashioned into a hobble of sorts?
