Personally I can't see that any of it matters. Especially if people are going to use it to take pot shots at one another.
If the bird conforms to standard & breeds true that is important.
Whether someone did or didn't smuggle them into US or whether someone did or didn't fabricate information, broadly speaking, is irrelevant & just serves to further the acrimony between the various factions of Marans breeders in US.

So true and well said. There are those on here who took so many pot shots at Mr. Jesse when he first posted. He's an elderly gentleman who knows nothing about computers. They criticized him for his user name; the fact that he didn't put an "s" on Marans; that he didn't have pictures posted - it went on and on. They are still criticizing his birds and earlier today someone posted a thread that gave untrue information and questioned his (my) birds lineage.
I can't figure out why some people can't just get on with their own lives and their own birds and leave everyone else alone. I've never seen such ridiculous stuff posted about Marans. You'd think they were talking about some life saving, world altering something or other - but, people, these are chickens.
I bought them for the pretty eggs and am still using them to produce pretty dark brown eggs and pretty olive eggs (which by the way are selling for $100+ per dozen to other people who want the pretty olive eggs). I've kept my line pure and now have the 4th and 5th generation who all look like their ancestors (Jesse's birds).
