A BYC CHANGE OVER REALITY. All need to read.

One other thing that should be implemented is to stop all the posts that have nothing to do with the problem. Delete those that are not offering suggestions to the problem.

We considered this approach but then KNOW we would get an additional 200 pms' per hour about censoring people on these threads. From this side of the equation it is a no win for the moment.

I agree that a NEW, SEPARATE SECTION/FORUM that is restricted to help questions and answers only (and with that clearly stated in the topic) needs to be set up for the remaining issues to be addressed and dealt with... because there is WAY too much back and forth bickering going on between members having issues and members wanting to add in a little positivite feedback here and there. Frustration levels have escalated to the level that a lot of members have very thin skin/short fuses and get offended very easily which is just compounding the negative atmosphere that's already hanging over BYC like a dark cloud as it is.

BUT... I really hope nobody goes thru and deletes a bunch of (or all of) the positive and supportive posts in any of the feedback threads. That's what this section is for, feedback, be it good or bad, positive or negative as long as it doesn't break the rules it should be allowed to stay where it is. Just as those that are having issues deserve the opportunity to post their vents and get help with their issues, those that are happy with the change and offering a little positivity and support to/for The New BYC and Staff should have the right to post their feelings and thoughts too, and not have their posts deleted from the currently open threads. Maybe some of the threads that have turned kind of ugly should be locked, just to keep it from escalating further, but more than likely a new one will be started, until everyone is happy with the new BYC (if that ever happens).

If this new section/forum for dealing with help questions and answers only is created, it might be helpful to put up a large colorful announcement banner in everyone's face on the category page (at least) stating something to the effect that if you have questions for staff then you should post in the new help section only, because Staff will no longer be able to answer posts asking for help in any other section/forum from this point on.

Just my 2 cents... or 3 or 4

You hit very close to what we have been discussing. It will take some time to set up and get organized. Most of the staff have spent more hours per day here than most people spend at work over the past few days and without some tightening up we will accomplish nothing when it comes to addressing issues people are having.

This was a suggestion I made. Not perfect. May need altering. Would something like this work? My feeling is that a voluntary computer knowledgeable person just only replied back and forth to your problem with you and skipped all the other interruptions, there would be less stress or confusion. And I'm hoping that there would be a list of volunteers that cruise by that thread frequently

Hi. I was wondering if there was a way to sticky a thread to post on for site or site user problems , and perhaps a list a volunteers that are more computer educated to sortof "mod" or "hover" over it, and try to help people.

I think it's confusing out there to :

not know where to post a problem
not know a guess from an educated suggestion
easier to get educated help from only volunteering savvy computer people
Possibly making those volunteers the only ones approved to answer or help
If you want to help, you may have to sign up to be a volunteer.

It may make alot of people alot more comfortable to know where to go and get help from a person with computer knowledge, and know that their problem with have follow through.
