Hi and welcome! So I hear you are a pastry chef… What do you think of duck eggs? How about goose eggs?Hi Y'all,
I grew up with a mother that was an animal "collector"--one day it was a dog and a cat, by the end of it all, we had chickens, rabbits, quail, and my favorite little goat Dandelion. Something like chicken math I suppose. It wasn't until I moved down South that I began to get curious about having chickens myself. As a pastry chef,
home range eggs are the best! I told myself I'm going to start small. We all know the next sentence... 1 becomes 11 in an instant!
I have 1RIR, Ora, 1 Black Sex-Link, Godiva, 1 Speckled Sussex, Twinkle, 1 Buff Brahma, Ursa, 1 Buff/mix Orpington, Solita, 2 Golden Comets, Astrid and Ginga Nova, 1 Starlight Green Egger Cassopia, 3 Silkies (unnamed because I can't tell the gender yet, for now I call them the babies).
I have learned a lot from looking up questions and it's been really helpful. Thank you to all the experienced individuals who can give advice along my journey as a chicken farmer.![]()

yes quack quack! 14 of them! along with 2 geese, and only 2 chickens, lol.Hi Jenbirdee,
Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I think duck & goose eggs would be delicious! I know they are auch richer yolk. I'd love ducks but don't think my neighbors would appreciate the quacking. Do you have ducks?![]()
