Are there any chickens that will not fly/jump over a four foot fence? I want to get chickens but the enclosure that I have has only a four foot fence. Any chicken that is common, can lay well and can not escape the enclosure is what I am looking for.

Thanks a lot,

Buff Orpingtons may work for you.

i have a three foot fence and the girls have jumped over once or twice then couldnt figure out how to get back in the yard and i had to go get em, lol. I think once your chickens figure out where their "are" is, they feel more inclined to stay there, i have no issues

I have a covered pen (covered with chicken wire). then you could have any breed you want and not have to worry about those flying predators.

I have a bantam cochin and a bantam frizzle cochin....Mine get so excited to see me they fly right over the 5 foot fence. Where there is a will there's a way! lol

I hated to do it, but i reverted to clipping some feathers... just the primary sturdy flight ones so they futter rather than fly. Can't even notice and it keeps them in, now she jumps in excitement to see me but doesn't make it over.

I had a silkie- and though they can't fly she would leap up and climb the fence while fluttering as hard as she could- whenever she'd see me comming with bread. lol

I'm trying to breed my male frizzle bantam with my silkies. I have three silkies in a cage with my frizzle. I let the silkies wonder around freely but I want to let my frizzle do the same. I'm just scared that he can jump high or fly over my fence. Can somebody telly me if a frizzle bantam can jump or fly high or are they calm like the silkies that they don't even try to escape nowhere? Please somebody give me some feedback on frizzle bantams and what do you think I shoud do!!!

How do frizzles fly?

The only ones of mine that I haven't seen attempt to fly are the Silkies, Aseels and Malay Game, even though I am sure the latter two could scale a fence if they wanted to.

Why not let them free range? You'd probably be pleasantly surprised. Is the Frizzle always with the Silkies? Why would he fly and leave them?

My Aseels are with my Silkies, and won't leave them.
