Hey y'all, I'm Melissa and I had no idea that there was a chicken distribution system
As a cat lady, that's normal with cats but the weekend before Christmas, a chicken walked up the sidewalk to my house! Little did she know there were 2 neighborhood cats that also picked my house to hang out at. That was interesting. The cats chased her for a bit but she settled on top of some garbage cans for the night, and was left alone. I didn't see her again until Sunday afternoon. She chose the neighbor's backyard, which was a mostly cat-free zone. Fast forward to today and she now pals around with the kitties.
I have no idea how to be a chicken mom but I spend a lot of time with her. I've bought her a few basics: food, treats, nesting materials, but I'm still not sure if I should keep her.
I live in New Orleans, in a bustling neighborhood and it's pretty common to see chickens roaming around. She's pretty young, and seems quite confident in herself. I've named her Billina and this is an unexpected adventure.
