Hi I am a newbie here. We live in the Beautiful Lake District in the UK, and have a hobby flock of 4 birds. two of them are old retainers and the other two are 28 weeks old or there abouts. Both new girls have been laying okay. One of them Sibyll, a Bantam Orpington, has been under the weather for a few days, and not eating a lot. We took a trip to the vets today and she was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. This explains her lack of intake for last few days...has anyone else an explanation or experience of this occurance...our veterinary (who keeps chucks herself) has never come across this before. The bird is otherwise very very healthy ..if a little underweight which we will now rectify by more attention and new feeding routines.
Thanks in advance for your help....
Ria. ( Sibyll, Bluebelle (a Bluebelle and the leader of the gang) Jenny, (light sussex) and Bagpipe ( a very loud but very tiny bantam-Piper to her friends)
