i have this chicken thats really got me stumped (sex wise) its 8 months old now and i still dont know if its a he or a she. it has no really obvious pointy saddle or hackle feathers that i can see from afar (havent caught the bugger yet, it runs away when you approach) but has a very red comb. It behaves like both sexes, it tries mating with my other hens, but the other roosters try mating with him/her. its never crowed, nor has it laid an egg that i know of. it does however 'cluck' around and will sit on eggs in the nesting boxes as if it goes to lay, but never produces anything.
its parents are my big EE roo and a sussex hen.
all hens from this hatch were white and brown, all the roos were gold duckwing bar one which was a white ee roo, sadly he died at 12 weeks old.
the chicken in question is white with black flecks. it looks rooish, but at the same time looks pulletish. im gonna try and catch it at nightfall to get some pics.
is there any way i can positively determine what sex this chicken is???

Is its left side different from its right side?

I once butchered a chicken and found one ovary and one testes.

Welcome to the wonderful world of chicken gender variances!
