~A Collection of Short Stories~

Oh, thank you! No one seemed to be reading it so I didn't know if there was any point putting it on here anymore

Poor little Philippe did not understand everything that was going on.
Ameé made sure he understood that he would not see his Mama
and Papa anymore, and that he and Ameé had to leave or he would
not see her anymore, either.

They had walked in the city that night and all the next day. Towards
the evening, Ameé saw a sign that said there was a room to rent.
It was close to a rich part of town, and Ameé hoped she could get a
job working at one of the houses there. She went in to talk with the
owner. The landlady introduced herself as Miss Sophia Caron. When
Ameé explained the situation of her and Philippe, Miss Caron said
that Ameé did not have to pay money for rent, but could have the
room and meals in exchange for helping cook meals and do general
housework. That way, Ameé would not have to work elsewhere, and
would be able to stay with Philippe.

Philippe stirred in his sleep, bringing Ameé out of her reverie. He opened
his eyes the tiniest bit, then closed them quickly when he saw Ameé
watching him, trying hard not to smile. Ameé grinned at her little brother
who was once again peeking at her. As she watched his playfulness, she
noticed a ray of sunshine beginning to play across Philippe's babyish features.
Soon, the whole room was bright as sunlight streamed in through the window.

"So pretty, Ameé," Philippe whispered, his eyes wide open and full of wonder.
"Yes it is, Philippe," Ameé replied quietly. Turning back to the window, she
looked up at the bright, crystal blue sky that had been damp and gray not long
before. She closed her eyes and let the sun warm her face. In that moment,
Ameé knew that she was ready to face the challenges that lay ahead of them.
No matter what.

The End!

I love your story! I know it seems like people don't read it, but they do, and just don't post. But here's a word of encouragement, I love your writing, you seem to have a gift.
Keep up the good work!

Thank you! I'm not so sure about me having a gift, but thank you just the same :D I really needed that encouragement. Now, time to move on with the next story in the series... I need to get unstuck in the third paragraph, lol.

Oh, no! I love that story. I read it avidly.

Aw, thanks. I kinda thought everyone forgot about it. I can't figure out where in the world a horse would have a foal! I know the mare travels away from the herd (not very far), and then foals, but where would a mare have it? I've been banging my head against the keys.
