A Constable sniffing around my house...

Quote:
THAT is exactly what scared me and why I didn't answer the door.
We have an OLD home, a 1700's colonial with the original front door that only locks with the skeleton key, which we keep up and away from the kids. Soo no one uses the front door and everyone that knows us knows to use the side door.
I was on my bed upstairs with my kiddos watching cartoons and folding laundry and I heard this BANGING on my front door (strange I thought, must be a stanger of some sort) and went to look out the window to see if I could spot a car or truck in the driveway. Couldn't see anything. Then I see the top of a balding head walking around my house looking in my windows! I got nervous at that point and figured since DH wasn't home and I wasn't expecting anyone that I wasn't going to answer the door. I watched him walk my property for 15 MINUTES before he finally left and yes he looked in every downstairs window, my garage, my barn, my kennel, etc.
CREEPY!
I'm glad he left some kind of note about who he was because if not I think I would have been really creeped out.

yeah...I have been dealing with a mistaken city of chicago ticket for yes...nearly 8 years now.

I've done everything to work it out.

They claim we got a ticket in Chicago with a dump truck lisc. plate that we did not own at the time and on the day I was giving birth to my first child.

Turns out they sold us a lisc. plate when we did get our dump truck that apparently had been used before...so I had to fax them this that and the other....on multiple occasions....because I keep getting the same notice.

Once they told me the easiest thing for me to do was to pay the fine. IT'S NOT MY FINE!!!! I didn't own the truck nor the plates at that time, I was giving birth, so there is no way my dh would be in Chicago on that day but more importantly...we did not own the LISCENSE plates in question until much later than the date of the ticket in question. No way am I paying a fine that's not mine.

I've had people say, ok, I've got the fax with the information we needed, sorry for the misunderstanding, I'm writing it in the computer as we speak and we will not have anymore of this problems...only to find...6 months later I get another notice. I have one now in fact. It is sooooooooooooo frustrating. Seriously, nearly 8 years, I kid you not.

So definatley mistakes are made.

me,
g

oh i know that would be creepy. i'd have been calling the cops and saying someones on your property that doesn't belong there and snooping around.

my front door is only visited by people who are strangers as well...everyone knows to come to the back door...so i know how you get that uneasy feeling, like, who are you and what do you want?

Take a deep breath...your ok now.

hugs,
gretch

Way back when I was 17 a woman was killed in an accident with the same name as my own. We kind of laughed about because the person she was with had the same name as someone I knew, so we joked about never driving together.
About 15 years later I was served a warrent and arrested and charged with falsifying my own death! It was the woman who died when I was 17, she had faked her death and someone had found this out and they looked up the name and came up with me. Even though when I was 17, she was 38, it took me 3 years and a great lawyer to fix that one. I still have trouble over it every now and then.

Yep! That's what they told me and my friend who moved out of state. Just pay the fine...Umm, no. It's not my fine, and it's clear as day on both your paperwork, and my social security, and birth certificate that YOU have the wrong info. The birth certificate is from RI. Hello...anyone in there??

My brother's situation was a little different since it involved a felony in Boston. He had to drive back and forth between Boston, and RI getting paperwork, proving his social security number, etc. Finally after 6 months, he walked back into the State Attorney General's office, and demanded to see the big boss. In 6 minutes, he fixed the problem.

i would just call them and say (mothers name) does not reside at this address and for at least 7 years to your knowledge.

They won't tell you anything else and you shouldn't tell them anything else as well. If they don't have the right address thats their problem! lol

As for the sniffing.....pigs do sniff

Yes, that is creepy, I probably would have been calling local law enforcement to check this "constable" out.

Update?

He was totally out of his jurisdiction in walking round your property for 15 mins, especially looking through your windows, that would have creeped me out as well, and why look in the kennel? had to laugh at that one......

Personally I would go to the police station with the note and check this one out, and say that in future you do not appreciate any officer doing what he did, don't file a complaint, but let them you you where not happy.

Any updates? .............
