A Cornish Cross (Breeding?) Journey

Pics
Down to 43 eggs. Already removed 4 early quitters, 2 each of the SLW and BBSW. They already had blood rings which I’m not surprised by in the SLW but I’m concerned about the BBSW.
Here’s a decent looking BBSW egg last night.

And the same egg tonight, note the line forming on the right. I suspect it is early sign of the blood ring.

One of the other failed BBSW eggs with a very obvious blood ring.

Most the other eggs I can see through look like this. Second one is a day or so behind but looks to have an embryo right in the middle. I will note that the light brahma cross’s eggs are all looking perfect as are the large fowl mix’s.

Were any of the 4 eggs fathered by JR.?

Day 4 on the eBay eggs and a few of my last minute eggs. I don’t want to mess with the shipped eggs too much and disturb the already messed up air cells but I’ve seen 2 for sure developing. Here’s one.

Another SLW egg looks to be a goner. One more of hers left and it look fine so far.

2 of the last minute eggs, a LFx and B/L. They were added at the same time as the eBay eggs.

Day 7 for the first big group I added. I haven’t seen any blanks with the exception of a barred/laced egg, the one I marked with a star to root for. Giving it another day just to be sure. Everyone else seems to be developing on track with lots of veins spreading down from the air cells.

I think the shed brooder should be empty before the eggs hatch. The 4 chicks will be 5-6 weeks old and the quail will be a little over 6 weeks and fully feathered. Just need the weather to cooperate so the older chicks don’t get too much of a temperature shock when I kick them out.

Also got a toe puncher in the mail. Looks to be a simple little device like a nail clipper. Now to figure out how I want to mark the chicks when they hatch.
