One of my POL pullets decided to go for a swim in the above ground pool we hadn't drained yet. I'm feeling completely ashamed that I didn't get a cover on it or empty it. It was completely avoidable and I'm just so upset at myself. Anyone else have anything ever happen like this that you knew was your fault?

Sorry for your loss. Don't beat yourself up. Just learn from it. I have had 2 chickens at different times jump into my large pond on cold wintery days trying to get away from me when I was rounding them up. Unbelievably they swam to the other side (very slowly.) You might put something they could get onto to get out (something like a little garden fence section) until you get it covered.
