a dirt corner

Since I didnt take my run level all the way down to the ground(leaving a few inces of the compacted leaves, pine straw,etc..), should I make a box and fill it with dirt for the chikens to "bathe" in? OR maybe just pick a corner of the run and take that all the way down to the dirt level?

If you wait long enough, the chickens will do all that work for you, AND make wonderful compost out of all those leaves and things while they search for bugs and crawlybeasts that live in those dark places.
