A Duck that won't molt?

Lighting can mess up molts which are triggered by decreasing daylight. One of the many reasons I don't use extra lights.

Yeah, we don't use the light except in the winter. It's only what light comes naturally at the moment.

Anything come of this? We are having the same issue with one of ours, over a year with the same feathers, did it work out on its own? I know this is a long dead post :)

When my Runners molt I can hardly tell. My Buffs only do I see their wing feathers growing in. My Muscovy mainly flight feathers falling out and growing back. Maybe she has molted mini molts and they just aren’t noticeable. Now I do have a 14 yr old Muscovy female that didn’t molt last fall when she gets wet you can tell her feathers aren’t very water proof. But 2.5 years her feathers should be water proof are they?

with only seven spoiled little beasties we have a high certainty of seeing and noting any molts that would have occurred so this is not a case of mini molts going unnoticed. In this case her flight feathers are very ratty and broken having had them for well over a year. Additionally she never produced the winter down all the other girls did last fall, they all got distinctly fluffier and showed a beautiful cream color that she never had.
Anyhow, I can’t find any similar scenarios on the web except for the OP here, hoping they chime in on what happened way back in 2017!
