I have a pond/lake in my neighborhood and I go down there often to feed the ducks and to fish. There is this one duck down there that only has one leg, I have seen it on many occasions and it doesn’t really go on land due to it only having one leg. (I want to confirm that it’s leg isn’t tucked in). I have two pekin ducks and used to have Muscovy ducks so it’s not like I’m inexperienced on ducks or anything but I was wondering what I should do about it. Leave it alone, take care of it, call an animal rescue, does someone have any advise? Sorry for the long paragraph and thank you!!! - If this helps I know some ducks do pick on it and and it’s scared of the ducks, I have pond in my backyard and my ducks stay in a big enclosure we made for them, we let them out during the day and they go to the pond and hang out and then at night we bring them in- I believe this duck is a white call duck

If it's a wild breed I would first try animal control or DNR. Watch it and see. If it's doing fine it may be more detrimental to try capturing it. Sometimes it's hard to see, but better to let nature take it's course. How much "better off" would it actually be in captivity?

If it's a wild breed of duck don't mess with it. Nature isn't pretty sometimes but we should let it take it's course.

If it's a domestic breed you could try catching it or calling a rescue group. I honestly don't know if there is anything that can be done for a duck with one leg. :idunno I image if there is it would require a big commitment.

It's going to have to come out of the water to eat? that is when it will be in danger. Start by taking some feed to shore edge and feeding it there. Getting it use to you. If you have friends that can help you might be able to take a large fishing net and catch it. It might not be easy but can be done with patience I rescued 2 ducks from our river by making friends with them then using a dog X pen set up at waters edge with the one end open to the water they got use to going in to eat once I got them to the back of the pen for eating I closed up the end that was open picked them up and brought them home. This took about 2 weeks total.
