A fair price for hens????

i bought a trio of 15 wk. old delawares before thanksgiving for $25 ($8.33 per bird). the 2 pullets are yet to lay (although they're close

), so i would say your $12 per is alright.

I know this is an old thread but it fits my question.

I was offered 2 RIR laying hens that are 2 years old for $12.50 each. I thought this was a bit much since they are already 2 years old.

Is that a fair price for 2 year old hens?

If someone offered me 2 year old RIR hens for $12.50, I would tell them nope, nope and nope.

If you can snap them up for next to nothing, they'd probably be worth it then. Or maybe if you're just looking for pets to hang around and occasionally give you an egg. If you're looking for consistent eggs layers, you should probably pass on these...
