a few just hatched questions for you...

i have a chick that was helped out

(not by me fyi) and its yolk sac was unabsorbed. worst case scenario = death best case scenario = ????? and the same chick is a day old and hasnt opened its eyes yet. it has been in the brooder for 12ish hours yet and is with 2 other chicks that hatched the day before.

Aloha. The chick is weak and will probably die. All you can do is make sure it is warm and comfortable. There really are no magic answers under these circumstances. Take care of the strong. And keep everyone from the pipping area in the future.

If you can keep the incubator clean, and leave it in there alone to rest, it may absorb the yolk and then eventually perk up.....Alot of the times though, they will get an infection......

its really active and strong, its yolk is still out but it scabbed over and quit bleeding and its eyes are still shut. it hatched yesterday evening so it is over a day old. it is fluffy and soft like the other healthy ones and its been in the brooder since this morning. it was helped by my mother, who decided she couldnt wait to see it..but im afraid she may have killed it.....
