a few questions..

Going to be getting some pheasant hatching eggs once they come into season. Curious on how many I should get if I get Yellow golden or lady amherst. A trio or a pair? Also, would I be able to keep a few pairs together if kept in a large enough area?

Save your money and go buy the birds you want.In the long run it will be cheaper and you get what you want not what hatches.Shipped eggs do not hatch very good.
If the pen is huge you could run 2 trios,but make sure the hens always outnumber the males and they might be ok but always keep an eye on them.

he's right, local interchange of live birds or guaranteed eggs is the only way to get your money's worth. I bought a dozen Eastern turkey poult day-olds from "e-fowl.com' and have myself now a $350 turkey hen. She was the only bird left 3 weeks after the 11 live birds arrrived with a dead one among them. I never saw the symptoms these birds had and they died like flies without responding. She lived because I made a mad martini cocktail of antibiotics at 30 times the strength each of what I'd ever use on an adult bird, plus syring-fed goat-power and other vitamin/protein supplements. She's now mothered 3 years of birds and reformed my entire bloodline and flock profile in size, iridescence, height, leg-length, tailbase tip color and a nice brown eye like wild birds have. But, everything I had saved up to buy, planning on selling extra birds to select breeders for later buy-backs and swaps, was all lost. We starved that year on that disaster and that lousy company gave us the runaround for 2 yrs, telling us we had to talk to someone else, write to someeone else, nobody took responsibility and upheld their guarantee. My local breeders are trusted friends I can call day and night and they will help me sell stuff or find stuff to buy if I need it. Their advice benefits my babies all the time. You might have to find them through Craigs lis with ads on various things you either want to sell or want to buy, but keep them in a special Farm Log, along with your record of sales and every expense for your taxes, if you claim your farm. Don't lose your breeder contacts, they can pull your fat out the fires
