A few walk-in coop plans/ideas if you can use'em...

Just found this one through the Lonoke County Extension Office website here in Arkansas. They have a few links but this one really caught my attention.

It's for an 8x8 chicken coop and is pretty good

Thanks for the link, but that is the same as the second plan in the list. There is a lot of duplicity out there on different websites. I don't mind the duplicity, it's those websites that choke up the search engines with all the "buy my chickencoop plans" links. Someone must have literally sat down and bought up every domain name that sounded anything like it had something to do with chicken coops...that ticks me off.

That is a good looking plan that you linked to. I'm still debating on what to do myself.

Small 6'x8' Layer House - This is more a planning/idea/info page than actually plans to build by though there are line drawings for ideas. It touches briefly on on dlm, waterers, feeders, rat proofing, etc. The plan could be used for a grow-out house, brooder house, broiler house, layer house, etc.,. Beware that it tells you to face the front of the coop to the *north* and to put the nestboxes on the cooler *south* side.....info is from Australia.

Great ideas. I am just starting to build my hen house and run. I need all the ideas I can get so we can design and build a good home for my chicks. Thanks for all your hard work.

Remember if you come across a good coop (or even shed) plan to post a link and I'll add it to the master list in the first message.

Thanks!
Ed

Thanks for the input but I won't be including the link in the list. It seems more like the (not so good) information is simply put there for an excuse for the website owner to advertise his or her goods. Many of the plans already on the list that use plywood for the flooring have much better foundations than what is shown in that link. You really should check some of those plans to see what good foundation plans look like.

I'm curious about something, though. If you're concerned about the sustainability of foundations built with plywood...why did you suggest and provide a link to a website instructing builders to use plywood??

Best wishes,
Ed

Thanks Ed, I shall check some more plans. What I meant was that the construction seems like something I can do BUT I was doubtful whether plywood is a good choice (sorry, English is not my native so I might have been unclear)
