So I'm new to the site, but I had meant to join a while ago....We got chickens around last April so they're around a year old. There was some shuffling of chickens and one unfortunate death, but as the flock stands now we have 4 americanas, 2 black jersey giants, 2 NH reds, 1 barred rock, and one buff orpington.
The original flock started out with 5 americanas, 4 jersey blacks, and 4 NH reds. We wanted some more diversity to our humble little flock so we ended up trading three chickens with someone who owns a huge flock. We traded one of each type and in return we got a white silkie, the barred rock, and the buff orpington. After a while it was clear that one of our NH reds was in fact a rooster. His name was Noodle and we had had a close call with him when he was a chick, so I had become really attached to him, but unfortunately we couldn't keep him. I was able to find a farm that was willing to take him so I'm glad we found him a new home. Our silkie, as it turns out, was also a rooster. His name was Einstein because....well he had the crazy hair and well.....he was an idiot.... Despite that he was quite cute though, but he had a slight attitude problem. After a while we had to get rid of him. Thankfully the person that gave him to us was willing to take him back and Einstein is now the father of very many chicks.
It was a sad moment when Widget, one of our jersey blacks died. We aren't completely sure how she died, but it's possible that she had swallowed a staple because we were still in the process of building the coop.
Without further ado I shall attempt to attach pictures of my flock with names...

This is our barred rock, Dino (pronounced Dee-noh in case there was any confusion)

This is one of our americanas, Cheeks, I guess it's pretty obvious why
(theres a NH red and another americana in the background)

The buff orptington, Muffin. She's the bottom of the pecking order because she doesn't fight back. She's losing a lot of feathers and I can't tell if she molting or not getting enough to eat.

A NH red, her name is Marsala.

Another americana. This is Nugget. She is paranoid.

Here is Ninja, an americana.

The last americana, Rascal, She is and has always been a pest.

These are our jersey blacks, on the left is Penguin and on the right is Gizmo (she's the biggest)

And this is our other NH red, Sally. Sally Manila.
So that is our current flock
Here is a picture of Widget, RIP.

And here are our boys who we miss so much

Glad to finally have an account
