A FRAME or Slant

The advantage of my slant roof is the rain all drains away from the main entrance of the coop, so it stays a little dryer. If you build a slant roof strong, and angled enough you'll never have to worry about the snow load.

The slant roof is certainly a heck of a lot easier to build too!

I really like my slant roof...I have a great slant grade and 2x4 braces in steel hangers for supports. It slants from 8' down to 6'...on a 12' x 12' coop, that is well over the min. required grade. The 8' side is the side with their run, so all the roll off and etc goes off the opposite side of the roof...hopefully keeping my run drier.

I have an A-frame type roof on mine... so there is plenty of room for a loft and storage... above my 12X16 coop I can fit probably 75-100 hay bales! (which will also make good insulation)
