What's a good hatchery to order some chicks from I was thinking of getting some americanas,Delawares,Sussex, barred rock, and maybe some welsummers

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to our flock. I agree with mrballance; closer is probably better so that the chicks don't have to travel so far through the mail. I think the two closest to you that carry all the breeds you want are Cackle Hatchery in Lebanon, Missouri, and Ideal Poultry in Cameron, Texas. I've ordered from both hatcheries on several occasions and have been happy with their birds and service. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your chicks.

Remember to ask where the chicks will be sent from too. Some hatchery offices are in one state but send chicks from facilities elsewhere. Welp is in IL but I've had chicks come from Texas and New Mexico. Much farther than the office!;-)

Well there is country hatchery here in Oklahoma but I was thinking of trying cackle or Mcmurry. Ideal is the one that I would like to try but they all ways seem to be sold out and I think there a little over priced on some stuff I have looked at

I have found Sand Hill Preservation very good, although slighty quirky - be sure to read their poultry page, which explains their setup and philosophy. Their Delawares and Speckled Sussex are excellent.

No one has mentioned Welp Hatchery yet. There are no shipping charges and the prices of their chicks are right along the same as all the others mentioned. I've had good experiences with them and their chickens have been really nice. Just be sure to double check the weather from point A to B:)
