Is Hoover's still supplying chicks for TSCs this year?

Mt. Healthy will definitely ship to you.

When I ordered from them in 2023, I wanted a certain breed, and I only had room for 4-5 more birds. I was able to order just what I needed, and yeah, had to pay the small order fee. I understand why they need to do it (they have to include heat packs to keep the chicks warm), but I thought since they had what I wanted and I could order so few birds, it was worth it.

The chicks were healthy, all of them made it and are still here with me today. I would order from Mt. Healthy again in a heartbeat.
I’ve ordered from them also. Although I would not do a large, diverse order with them (they are pricier than most), for small orders they are amazing. Easy to get on the phone, helpful with IDing birds, and never a problem with any of them. The chicks seem to be super friendly and not skittish, and I’ve had zero health issues with any.

That's a shame. But luckily I live in Ohio so I bet they ship to me if it really comes to that. I hope it doesn't come to that though because I'd definitely get hit with a small order fee.
If you’re in be an Ohio, you can get bin chicks from Myer Hatchery! They are my favorite place to get chicks, though now that I’ve left Ohio, I only get shipped chicks from them.

Yes, I love Meyer! But I do live 45 minutes from there so if I need something specific (in my case, it's usually meat birds), it's a real gamble if they will have that breed or even any chicks left by the time I get there. But when I do a preorder and pick it up, I usually do snag a few bin chicks to add to my order. :)

I ended up finding a TSC with some Cornish X a few weeks ago. I got lucky because they have been selling out quick.

Good deal! I've seen them at TSC here also. The pullets are selling out fast but straight runs along with meat birds are hanging around TSC longer. Also, the pullets will be easier to find past the springtime rush.

If you ever have trouble in the future, I highly recommend Valley Hatchery's bulk meat bird pack. It's a fantastic deal with free shipping also, and once you buy the 25 pack, you can add on more chicks at the same price with no extra shipping. My neighbor and I order 30 together and get 15 each.

Thank you! That's good to know if I ever do get more land in the future. Right now I live in the city and can only accommodate 6-7 meat chickens at a time. :) That sounds like a great deal though.
