I read that you should stop rotating a egg 3 days before they are supposed to hatch. I was wondering if I could keep the chicks in the egg turner but just make sure to turn it off. Is this okay? Or should I take the egg turner out and put the eggs on the ground in the incubator.

I like to keep eggs in a carton in an upright position with the fat end up.
It should be fine to turn off the egg turner and have them straight up.

I would take the egg turner out. The chicks might get tangled up in it when they hatch. Little legs stuck in the holes and necks in between the cracks...

ETA - I hatch in egg cartons as well, but they're not made up like a turner is. The turner has holes and slits and is more mechanical..and a little elevated from the bottom of the bator.

I was thinking that would be the smart way to go. I just wanted to be sure because I have never hatched any chicks before.

I just took my buttons out of the carton and laid them flat now 3 are pipping.

I am always privy to better info.

3 days before we take the eggs out the turner and if there cracking we turn em right side upards.
