A hawk tried to take one of my chickens!!!!!

A hawk tried to take one of my chickens!!!!! Anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Fortunately, he didn't get her.

I always scan the area & listen for them prior to letting mine free range. Unfortunately that always doesn't guarantee that the chickens are safe for hawks, like any predator are very sneaky & silent upon attack. I always have our dog out when they are free ranging and I never let them free range when I'm not home.

I was wondering the samething... I just got home from school and found the hawk in my chicken pen eating curious.

Hanging old Cd's around the yard does help deter the hawks. They don't like the colors that flash in the light.
