Just read a horrible story of someone accidentally cooking there eggs they where trying to hatch they used a infrared light and some how due to a broken thermometer cooked there eggs is this something to worry about when hatching with a normal light? or is it just a horrible accident?

??? I initially use two different thermometers which I know to be accurate in obtaining my initial temp before placing eggs in the bator. Once eggs are in and have warmed up, I've found that I don't need to manipulate the heat at all. And on every incubator's instruction manual, it will state that thermometers need to be calibrated with one known to be accurate. So I find it interesting and curious that an incident like that could have occurred. I guess it's possible, maybe using a homemade incubator?

yeah it said it was a homemade incubator my friend says im being silly the worst thing to do is google things that can go wrong

she has told me to stop looking at things that go wrong and look at things going right my eggs are fine lol just panicing its my first time hatching

I just hatched 14 of 22 eggs in my homemade 'bator. It worked I had to take 2 days to get it the right temp, then it stayed between 97 - 102. I thought 14 for my first hatch was really good. oh and BTW if you don't want to cook something then keep the heat down. simple isn't it??

yeah simple just an over active imagination making the best of me thinking the worst is going to happen my thermostate has kept the temp comstant since the start and where at day 22 know so why should it suddenly cook em
