Racoons are oportunistic. They come out during the day, it's a myth that they don't. OP fed them and that's what they wanted... food. That's why they ate her chickens, and that's why they chased her. Making friends with wild animals is never a good idea. Op has learned a hard lesson.

I am so so so sorry. Like you, I am a sucker for all wild life -- live and let live.... till they invade my chicken space. Of course you feel bad.... but this is different from feeling responsible. Those raccoons just do what raccoons do. It happens. We do our best, but it happens.

It sounds like you might want to add some electric fencing. (I have a weird angle area that is only single wired too. I am taking a lesson from you and will address that area. Thank you and big hugs.
