This is a RANDOM Winner Contest...
We will use a random number generator to select our winners for this Contest.

Do you have a favorite bird? Maybe they're extra friendly and come running when they see you, or they're the biggest character in the flock. Maybe they were a rescue bird, or you hatched her yourself! Tell us about your favorite bird!

Prizes - At least three 3-month PFMs

It's easy to enter, just reply to this thread with up to four pictures of your favorite domestic poultry, and you will be entered for a chance to win!

To increase your chances of winning, please read the rules before entering.

Rules:
  1. Four entries per member. One entry per post, please.
  2. An entry is one picture of your domestic poultry and a blurb about why they hold a special place in your heart.
  3. All domestic poultry is allowed (chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, peafowl, guinea fowl, quail, pheasants, pigeons, doves, etc.).
  4. No screenshots. No collages.
  5. No watermarks, text, or other elements on the photo. Date stamps are allowed.
  6. The photo needs to have been taken by you.
  7. You cannot use a photo that won an award in another BYC-sponsored contest.
  8. ALL photos MUST be uploaded to BYC.
  9. Prizes are limited to one per person per contest.
  10. All BYC rules apply: Terms of Service (Rules).
  11. Entries will be accepted until February 15th, 2026, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
Note: We will use a random number generator to select our winners for this Contest.

Love is in the air here at BYC, and we just had to offer some contests to show how much we care! There is a contest for everyone and lots of prizes too!

The 14th of February is Valentine's Day, a day when we celebrate love and friendship. Besides being romantic for couples, it is a fun event for kids, families, and friends. Come check out the hatch-along and contests, there's fun to be had and great prizes to be won!

Here's one to get us started

This is Merioneth. He hatched 3 May 2025. He has amazingly green legs and lemon earlobes. He has a splendid set of wattles too, so immediately came to mind when I saw this contest notice.
(edited to change the picture, as the first one I loaded suited the 'Some are red' compo better)

He is a very handsome rooster! What breed is he?
 
This is Fiona Apple II, my sweet blue Ameraucana who passed a few months ago. She suffered from crop stasis and chronic sour crop, so she spent a lot of time indoors with me getting crop massages. When she integrated back into the flock, she was always the first to come running to be picked up. She was a crowd favorite with any friends who came to visit. At nearly 2 years old she laid a total of 4 small eggs, which was more than I expected given her health.
