Don't know how many times I want walking around the chicken yard and you'd see an a in the middle of absolutely nowhere nothing close to the nesting boxes nothing close to their normal hide spots for the eggs just right out in the middle of the yard but they were just walking along and plop and kept on walking entertaining thing is sometimes the eggs or shell as that is to say only the membrane so you go to pick it up and stick your finger through it cuz you think you're getting a shell you learn to be tender with the eggs LOL

although she was in the nest box, .. I was waiting to pick up the egg and the white came out first. RIGHT on the eggs in the box then the yolk shot out and almost hit a hen that was in line, who looked horrified .. then the shell dropped out..

Yeah, happened to one of my whites once.

So far, 3 of my new pullets dropped their first egg either in their wading pan or next to it. Like.... oops what was that?? Next day they lay in the nesting box
