Okay, I called Asagi Hatchery for you and got some info.

Buff Orpingtons are in what they call their "specialty hatch" and the next hatch will be in February. They are accepting pre-orders until the end of November.
Chicks are $7 each and are vaccinated against Marek's. Not vaccinated against Coccidiosis so they recommend medicated chick feed.
Shipping charges to the BI: $26.25 for a shipment of 5-24 chicks.
The very helpful lady suggested getting together with someone else and ordering more chicks and sharing the shipping costs.

No. Silkies are notoriously difficult to sex, often taking months.

Best of luck with your birds and I hope this works out for you. I am assuming that you are on the Hilo side of the BI with all the rain....love that side of the BI.

oh maybe I won't get one after all it would be hard to keep them with the rain I get! they have feathered feet!

Buff Orpingtons would be fine. No feathered feet and generally good natured.

No more. It was a few years ago and it was odd. Beautiful but strange.
I lived on Oahu but loved the BI, favorite of all the Islands.
