I can not seem to find one of those thermometer/hygrometer that show the "outdoor" humidity. So when you stick the wire in the incubator it tells you the humidity in that and not how moist my room is!
So after getting a bit frustrated I thought who better to ask then the pros :) I've been reading a lot of the threads on here recently and you guys seem to know what you're doing!
Can someone please tell me a brand or where to get one etc? I want to do this right.
Thank you very much, in advance :)

I bought 2 different ones (same brand that chickencanoe mentioned) from Walmart. One has a cord so it sits out of the incubator and the cord can hang inside, and one that the whole unit goes inside. I found that they were both very different from each other and I didn't know which one was right. The one was reading 40% humidity and the other was reading 80%. This was such a drastic difference that I had no idea which one to trust and neither one had the same temp reading that my original thermometer (which I trusted) showed. I have asked on several different threads where to get a realiable hygrometer and haven't had anyone come forward with a reasonable priced one that works really well. So, what I decided to do was the weight and measuring of the air sac method. It seems to me that this way is more tailored to each individual chick anyway. Try reading this post. A Guide to Humidity, Weighing and Lockdown. Good Luck!

Same experience here.

For humidity, that's also what I do.
I better stop typing and go weigh eggs.

Have you tried weighing before? What success have you had? About a month ago I had a terrible hatch (2 out of 11 hatched) When I had my husband open the eggs at the end, I found that all the chicks had developed fully but then just died. I believe that it was all due to my humidity which is why I have decided to try measuring the weight and marking the air sac. I am on day 12 and this is the first batch that I am trying this with. Let me know how it works for you. Thanks!!

For temps I use an egg o meter you can get them off ebay. .And then for the hygro I got one thru incubatorwarehouse.com. The hygro also has a temp gauge on it but I don't pay attention to that I just use the egg o meter for temp and the other for hygro. Another thing w/ the hygro's is you really need to calibrate it before putting it in because it could be way off. Here is a site that tells you how to calibrate. Hope this helps.

Thank you!
Weighing them.. I had read about it but didn't realize it was common practice. Sounds complicated. But worth trying of course.
And calibrating the hydrometer, that's great. I wonder who ever figured that one out.
Again, thank you for ur help!
