Hello everyone :)

I am a young chicken owner who just celebrated two years of caring for some hens! I started with two chickens (which I believe to be Rhode Island Reds, but a chunk of the reason why I am here is to ask for your help in identifying them!) I received as a gift from my neighbor. The following year, I purchased two more chickens (a white leghorn and another unidentified breed). The four of my hens got along very well for the most part and I can't imagine my life without the birds! Which is why I decided to add two silky chicks into the mix (separated at the moment of course).

I'll give y'all more updates as I explore some more!
Have a fantastic day!

Hello, :welcome! I'm also a pretty young chicken owner. :p I have a few young RIR's - you could post the pics of yours here and I'll try to help you identify if yours are RIR's!

I've been here for a little under 10 minutes and I've already learned so much! So here's a little UPDATE:

I believe I have an Ameraucana (Easter Egger), a white Leghorn, and two Sex Links (let me know if you have another opinion! :)). They lay eggs in an array of colors: blue, white, light and dark tan.

The Ameraucana is appropriately named Pecky, the Leghorn is Bella, the Red Sex Link is Helen, and last but certainly not least from my ol' gals is Chicken Little. My two baby silkies (approx. a month or so old) names haven't yet been decided. I can't decide between Wilma and Betty or Ying and Yang. Maybe I'll post a poll later on about their names.

Anyway, I hope this answers some questions and helps y'all get to know be a little better!

Awe, they're so adorable! And I love their names. :p

Pretty silkies. They are generally very difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age and sometimes not until they crow or lay. Patience is a virtue.
