A little too loud and proud

our pullet did that too a few days ago when she laid her first egg! She started cackling loudly before and after she laid the egg!

I didn't know why but now that I see all these other people with the same problem, I am guessing it's just natural. LOL

ROFL My Hamburgs are like this. The next hen in line will pace outside the nest yelling at the current occupant to hurry it along and GET OUT!!

I love this thread!! That is so funny! We have our first hen getting ready to lay so I can't wait to hear what she does. She is a buff orp. We have an australorpe that walks aroud making this loud long BBBBBBRrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk sound anytime she is near the coop. It is strange but cute! Anyways, thanks for all of the giggles.

So we tried letting her in the house to lay her eggs in a box inside - worked great, definitely amused the kids, but then when she went back outside she still carried on

There is just no shushin' this girl!

On the bright side, one of our neighbors (six doors down I might add) heard the ruckus and came to see who else had chickens - so now we know we aren't the only ones!

same here! my buff orp is working on her 4th egg as i am typing. she is talking up a storm! i have no ideas for you. i think it will pass. at least i hope so! i have 26 and that would sound like war in the hen house!
