A little worried tonight...

OMG, I could never use a hoe(probably end up decapitating one), I am sooo bad.
I have horrible luck with anything that could injure things.
I am someone that has killed some animals in ways that would probably not been possible had it been tried

can you say accidently kill a duck with a rock? or shoot a squirrel in the eye(accidently)?

I hope your chooks will be well tonight

My grandpa used to have this story he told--They had a pen of chickens that they kept for eggs and meat. One evening they were sitting out on the back porch (large family) and enjoying the evening, when the meanest rooster somehow got out of the pen and went after one of my aunts, who was a little girl at the time. My grandpa grabbed a rock and tossed it at the rooster to scare it off but he accidentally hit it square in the head and it fell over dead. My grandpa was extremely soft hearted and an animal lover, so it made him really upset. But my grandma was no-nonsense. She got up and plucked the roo and put him in the fridge for supper the next night. My grandpa was still telling us how he accidentally killed the rooster when he was 80 years old. lol.

I thought of that too! I used to have a hen who thought she should roost 5 feet up in a tree every night. It drove me crazy. My chooks better head back to their trusty roost pole after their night out.

They're all fine!

I had one of those epic long strange dreams last night involving me going to Mexico to visit a high kill shelter. I wanted to look at their chickens. For some reason I put my baby in a cooler in my backpack (!?!) and left it at the front desk of the shelter, went into their chicken room, and got totally distracted for hours. When I came out CPS had taken my baby back to the USA and they wouldn't listen to me explain that I was so excited about chickens that I'd simply forgotten my baby by accident. I went home crying only to find that it had gotten dark in the US while I was away in Mexico and my chickens were locked out of their coop. I went to bed and when I woke up the next morning my backyard was a desert with bare trees, and there had been a high wind, and all of my chickens had gotten blown so hard that they'd been speared by the bare tree branches! I went to pick one of my EE hens off of a tree and her head fell off onto the ground!

Then I woke up and ran outside to check on my birds.

Thankfully none were speared on tree branches...

Glad your chickies were ok, glad you really didn't desert your baby for homless chickies.
