Maddie's Mom, Who said it sounded like worms? Around post #18 she said she decided to treat for worms even though everyone had suggested treating for coccidiosis. I mean this in the nicest way possible, have you read the entire thread? Or the PM's she sent to people?

@Sick Birds , pedialyte is fine, but syringing it is dangerous. If you decide to do that again you should tube it instead:

A sick chicken needs no less than 10% of it's body weight in fluids per day - 1000 gram chicken (2.2 pounds) would get no less than 100ml a day, *impossible* to syringe safely.

Maddie's Mom, if more die you should make arrangements to have a necropsy done on it.

Everyone, PLEASE...let's all calm down. Maddie DID get the Corid and the birds are being treated. NONE of us is perfect and we have ALL made mistakes. I can't begin to count all mine, in the many years I've been on this earth.

This is a young girl, doing the best she can, and don't you think a little compassion might go a lot futhur than making her feel more awful about this whole thing?

I know everyone is worried about the birds...let's not forget that there is a young girl here too that has the right to be treated humanely!

She learned a hard lesson a very hard way and feels worse than all of us about this, as they are HER birds. Getting new birds is NOT irresponsible. She learned, that is what counts. Let's help her keep learning instead of tearing her down! PLEASE?

Also, please don't PM her and bash her more!

This is a great forum, that we have all come to for help with our own chickens. Don't be the one to cast the first stone!

Maddie's Mom, please don't let the few keep you from here and the help that is available. I'm sooo sorry this has turned into such a mean and spiteful thread and for what Maddie and you have had to go through, both with the chickens, and on this forum. There is a red flag at the bottom of people's posts. It is to notify the moderators of inappropriate behavior. Please feel free to use it as that is what it's there for!
